A message from our CEO:
Charity raffles are nothing new but we have tried hard to make ours a little different and of course it has been very specifically driven by the amazing Lily McGarry and her friends and family.
In January 2025, then a medical student at Cardiff University, Lily found herself fighting for her life having contracted meningococcal septicaemia leading to doctors having to amputate all four limbs. 18 months on Lily is home in Jersey fighting a new battle to use new prosthetic limbs and raise awareness around acquired disability.
All of the prizes reflect our goal of helping people keep active, be able to access their community and ultimately live a life without limits! Funds raised will go towards helping Enable to continue what we do but we also hope to be able to work with the Government of Jersey, other charities, community groups and businesses to fund a ‘Mobiloo’- Mobiloo | Go Anywhere which is a mobile, accessible toilet and changing facility, designed to allow disabled people to participate fully in local events and ensure that everyone can enjoy social and recreational activities without facing the accessibility issues they often do today.
As Lily told us, “Until recently I never understood the frustrations that a lack of accessibility can cause for those with extra needs. Now I’m experiencing it first hand I’ve noticed how much Jersey could improve on. None of us know when we or one of our loved ones might need extra assistance. The Mobiloo will help those with a disability gain access to the things they love like festivals and sporting events that able bodied people take for granted.”

About Enable Jersey
Enable Jersey is the islands only community facing pan-disability charity. We work alongside islanders living with any disability or long-term condition, their family, friends, and carers assisting islanders to navigate everyday barriers and find the support they need, when they need it including access to repurposed care and mobility equipment via our Equipment Hub at La Collette.
Our work is led by people’s real life experience and whether that comes from living with a condition or disability for a long time or having acquired a disability more recently, we work tirelessly to ensure that this personal knowledge is front and centre in community conversations and drives meaningful change across the island.
